Senior Thesis: The Next Step in Representation in Toys (est. June 2025)

Working closely with members of the local Filipino American community, I am designing and fabricating a doll in the spirit of casual representation. A doll that children can engage with that is, but is not only, Filipino. Complete with a narrative, accessories, and extended world this doll will surely become a child's best friend! With intricately placed and nods to our culture, this doll will be an image of what it means to grow up as a Filipino American girl.

This project includes mold-making (Smooth-On), 3D sculpting (NomadSculpt), narrative development and illustration (ProCreate), community collaboration (DesignGym, Bahay Kultura, and more), fashion design, and lots of material compatibility research. Complete with branding and packaging design, this doll is the evolution of all my skills thus far in my Product Design journey.

Sudz Pods: a reusable solution for laundry commuters (March 2023)

Reusable silicone 1-load (2 fl. oz) laundry pods designed to minimize the hassle for people who commute to do laundry (renters, college students) by eliminating the need to transport the full sized jug. A 5-week partnered project including research, ideation, prototyping, marketing, small-batch production for sale, and prep for future development. Thorough testing and material research, the prototype run of the Sudz product was fully functional, liquid-safe and heat-safe.

I was responsible for concept, branding, marketing, material and production processes, working alongside designer Koya Chen (3D modeling, manufacturing communications, prototyping and production assistance) to garner over 70 orders. The short-term project accrued over 30,000 likes across all features (brand and influencer partnerships).

Workshop and Module Design: Sewing (May 2024+)

An acrylic large-scale learning aid designed to increase accessibility in sewing lessons for large classes. Proven to assist teaching students from ages 10 to 50. Presented to a sold-out room at MAGFest 2025, a music and gaming convention home to over 20,000 attendees. Here, I explored pattern design and illustration for an at-your-own-pace DIY session where students designed and created their own plushie creatures.

Students learn three key skills (quilter's knot, straight stitch, backstitch) on a color coded felt test-triangle and assemble a plush half-sphere creature, gaining skills in three dimensional thinking and a greater understanding of soft toy design.
